Yurii Zorko’s one-man show

 People's Artist of Ukraine Yurii Zorko visited Kirovograd on September 7. Yurii Zorko was for the first time in our city. He got acquainted with the exposition of Peter Ossovski Gallery, Regional Art Museum and Alexander Osmerkin Memorial Art Museum.

 

The painter’s one-man show opening was held in the gallery "Yelisavetgrad".
About 40 paintings which were created in different years are being displayed. Even sophisticated spectators won’t remain indifferent about still lifes, landscapes and genre paintings.

 

This day there also was an informal meeting with the artists from Kirovograd – Nadezhdin, Smichek, Yakovleva, Vintenko, Anatolii and Sergei Shapovalov.

 

The exhibition will last till September 27.
The persons interested can buy the artist’s works they liked and also the catalogue with the reproductions of his paintings (It costs 100 hryvnias. Sending to other city is possible).

Yurii Valentinovich Zorko was born in 1937, in the village of Razdolnoe, Dalnii Vostok district, Primorsk land, Russia). He lives in Donetsk now. He is a People’s Artist of Ukraine. The painter finished Donetsk Art School of Painters and Decorators. His teachers were Gladkii and Stashevskii. In 1971 he became a member of the Artists’ Union of the USSR (now he is a member of the National Artists’ Union of Ukraine). He works in such spheres as easel painting (genre paintings, landscapes, still life) and watercolor painting. He worked in the creative watercolor painters’ group “Komi-kray” on Taimyr Peninsula, in Krasnoyarsk, Syktyvkar, Norilsk, Tomsk, Nizhniy Tagil etc. Since 1999 he has been a director of the creative group “Donetskii Plener”. Yurii Zorko is a Laureate of International Competition “Plener 99” in Byelorussia (Mogilev). He is a participant of numerous international, national and republican exhibitions.

Many of his works are stored in museums and galleries of Ukraine, Russia and Byelorussia and in private collections of France, Germany, Sweden, Israel and the USA.
Yurii Zorko is also a Laureate of Tatiana Yablonska Prize 2012 and a Presidential Grant Holder.
